Originally the site of the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service depot, lightships and buoys were brought to the workshops located here on the site where The River Gallery Apartments now stand. A tribute to this history can be found on the Riverwalk side of the development – an anchor from one of those ships that was serviced here.
Opening in 2001, and christened ‘The River Gallery’ (after an art competition was held to celebrate its launch), its comprised of 6 buildings named after iconic Australian artists – Margaret Preston, Sydney Nolan, Russell Drysdale, Arthur Boyd, Brett Whitely and Norman Lindsay.
The River Gallery is a low-rise development with a mix of 100 apartments, townhomes and villas set amongst sub-tropical gardens (you’ll love the orchids!) and centred around a pool worthy of any 5-star resort. Its riverside location and brilliant design ensure its sold prices consistently rank highly (especially when the right agent is chosen!)
Also onsite you’ll find other amenities such as: a gym, sauna, steam room and borrowing library, and the complex is extremely well-managed.
With its prime position at the foot of the Riverwalk, River Gallery residents can stroll down to Howard Smith Wharves for Pink Koala cocktails at Fiume, perched atop The Fantauzzo with a spectacular Bridge and CBD vista; followed by Japanese at Yoko or any of the other brilliant restaurants in the HSW vicinity.
You’re literally surrounded by transport options at The River Gallery, with the Sydney St ferry a short walk away, the 196 bus stop is literally footsteps from your door, and you’re able to ride your bike to the CBD or down to New Farm Park for a picnic!
Residents of The River Gallery certainly benefit from everything that amenity-rich New Farm has to offer while being ensconced in one of the area’s most beautiful complexes.
