Studies show that new kitchen appliances bring big returns for sellers. So get rid of old appliances that make the rest of the kitchen look dated. Once you install the new equipment, it will scream “new kitchen,” and you will see that spending a little money will make you even more.

A nice outdoor deck can be a big selling feature, but an old one is a major liability.

To give your outdoor space new life, first sand the timber. Cover it with a light-coloured stain and furnish it for outdoor entertaining. Add some potted plants and watch your open house turn into a party.

It’s not just the house that could do with a spring clean and declutter, if you have outdoor areas, no matter how big or small, there are lots of ways to increase the appeal.

If you have a few months to prepare, maybe a good prune back will do the trick to encourage new growth for sale time; the addition of a layer of curly tan bark over garden beds is very pleasing to the eye and get the grass in order. It needs to be thick, green and lush for when you go to market.
