It was the pride and joy of its architect Harry Seidler’s career
Celebrated Australian architect Harry Seidler designed the Riparian to be a building of significance to Brisbane’s skyline, and significant it was. The building set the benchmark for innovative architectural expression, environmental design, and construction engineering. Seidler finished the building in 2005, and said of it;
“Riparian Plaza will be a landmark for Brisbane for decades to come. Riparian Plaza is the jewel in the crown for the location. It is simply one of the best buildings I have ever designed,”
Riparian Plaza was the last major project Seidler designed.
Prior to its construction, Brisbane hadn’t seen new office spaces built in more than a decade
Riparian Plaza brought much-needed premium office space to the city, and each floor was quickly occupied by growing organisations.
The building has earned quite a few awards in its time
In 2007, the Riparian Plaza was awarded the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) National Award for Commercial Architecture, and in 2008 it won Property Council of Australia Award for Mixed Use Development and Rider Levett Bucknall/Property Council of Australia Award (Overall Winner).
