Every month the New Farm Cinema shows a screening of Tommy Wiseau’s ‘The Room’. Known in film circles as the ‘the worst movie of all time’, this cult classic is something everyone must see at least one in their lives. You’ll be asking yourself ‘How can something so bad be so good?’
Jan Powers Farmers Markets: February 23, March 2, March 9, March 16, March 23, March 30
The iconic Jan Power’s Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 6am-12pm in front of the Brisbane Powerhouse. Get on down and buy some fresh, locally sourced produce to support local Brisbane business.
Brisbane Queer Film Festival: March 7 – March 17
The annual Brisbane Queer Film Festival has returned for the 20th year in a row. Head on down to the New Farm cinema to see some incredible films celebrating Brisbane’s LGBTIQA+ community.

The Howard Smith Wharf Precinct
The latest and coolest place in Brisbane is no doubt the Howard Smith Wharves. Located at the bottom of the cliffs and tucked away under the story bridge the Howard Smith Wharves boasts enviable views of Brisbane city. Paired with drinks, great music, and a vibrant atmosphere its no wonder the people of Brisbane are flocked to this beautiful precinct.

Gertie’s Bar and Restaurant
Gertie’s is an oldie but a goodie in the New Farm area. For the last 27 years, the bar has been providing locals with exotic cocktails, delicious food with a Latin American twist, and incredible live music.
If you’re heading in for dinner we suggest trying Gertie’s cheeseburger, a delicious burger with sweet chilli, mayo, rocket, and tomato served with French fries. For a drink you can’t go past the Lola; a delicious cocktail made up of gold tequila, cherry brandy, lime juice, and apple juice all served on ice.
Head down today for some tasty food and beverages and good vibes.

This year there are a number of local roads that are due for an upgrade. This will help ease congestion and make a smoother commute for residents of the New Farm area. The roads listed for upgrades are:
- Barker Street
- Elystan Road
- Gray Street
- Merthyr Road
- Samuel Street
New Ferry Terminal
In addition to this, Councillor for Central Ward, Vicki Howard, has announced a new ferry terminal will be built in New Farm. The terminal will be constructed near the Wilson’s Outlook reserve, allowing New Farm residents further access to river travel.
